Pamela Pitman Brown, PhD is an assistant professor of sociology at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. Dr. Brown joined SPO as a member in 2006 with the Alpha Zeta Chapter (University of South Alabama) and was Chapter President from 2006-2008. She served as the Student Representative on the Board from 2008-2010, and Treasurer from 2011-2015. Brown was a 2007 AGHE Intern in Washington, D.C. where she worked closely with the SPO Executive Board.
Brown received her B.S. (Education) from Auburn University, her M.A. (Sociology) and Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of South Alabama (Mobile), and PhD (Social Gerontology) from Miami University (Ohio). Brown also completed her certificate in Sexual Health Education at the University of Michigan’s Sexual Health Certificate (UMSHC) program offered in partnership by the University of Michigan Health System Center for Sexual Health and the University of Michigan School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Professional Education. She is also a Credentialed Professional Gerontologist with NAPG. Currently she is working on her Master’s in Adult Education.
Pam is also serving as the Sociology Chair for the USG Board of Regents Academic Advisory Committee and is a coach for the Blue Tide Swim Team in Albany/Americus, coaching the youngest group of future Olympic swimmers!
Brown lives in Leesburg, Georgia with WB (her spouse), and their twin girls. When not busy teaching and grading she enjoys hanging out at the pool with the twins, grilling out, and working in her yard, as well as remodeling their home.
