Katie Ehlman, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Gerontology and the Director of the Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville, IN. In 2010, Ehlman led an effort to resurrect the Sigma Phi Omega Chapter at USI where 17 student members from eight different disciplines were inducted to SPO. Ehlman has been active in SPO since 2010 and began her board responsibilities in 2011. Prior to moving into an academic setting, Ehlman spent nearly ten years in long term care administration. As a licensed nursing home administrator, Ehlman’s research interests lie in nursing home/care setting quality as well as integrating experiential learning in gerontological education. Ehlman is actively involved in teaching, scholarship, and service in her faculty role at the University of Southern Indiana.
Her professional affiliations include the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the International Institute for Reminiscence and Life Review, and the institutional representative for Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE).
