Alpha Chi Spring 2021
We thought we’d share our University of Utah Alpha Chi chapter virtual Spring Induction and Celebration.
We know it’s tricky to do these things virtually, but we had a fun time together!
We used a Word Cloud activity as everyone was logging on (see Slido.com for an easy setup and participation), introduced ourselves, had our Director of Alumni Relations pop in to congratulate the students who are graduating, and played a video the Director of our gerontology program had prerecorded to congratulate our new inductees.
Next, we gave kudos to the students for their diligence, faculty for their mentoring, and professionals for their support of older adults in the community and played a positive aging video from the Atlantic.
After that, we inducted ten new members, led by our chapter advisor, Katarina, and chapter president, Nancy. Next, we played a wonderful cameo video by Utah Jazz player, Georges Niang, who congratulated the new inductees and thanked everyone for the work we do on behalf of older adults. (See cameo.com for some fun ideas.)
Lastly, we covered some SPO Noteworthies, such as how they will receive their cords, requests for Chapter News events, and the call for new officers which will be sent out in late April. We then left the Zoom meeting open so people could stick around and socialize.
What are your induction experiences this Spring? Do you have graduation traditions in your chapter? Please submit your activities in our Chapter News at our website, sigmaphiomega.org, so we can all share your good news.
