To create a new SPO Chapter
SPO chapters may be established at any regionally accredited higher education institution offering gerontology/aging studies or related fields of study. You are encouraged to review the SPO Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
The process to apply to create a new SPO Chapter includes:
- current transcripts of proposed student members must be submitted complete with a faculty signature.
Professional applicants please include your degree and dates awarded as well as your employer and job title.
- one (1) of the applicants must include a faculty member who either is already a member of Sigma Phi Omega or qualifies to become a member according to the SPO Bylaws, and that faculty member agrees to serve as Chapter Advisor.
- new chapters are required to write and submit their own Bylaws.
- Mail these applications, along with promotional materials about your program (for example newspaper articles, brochures, website printouts), and current transcripts of the student members to:
Sigma Phi Omega

The national SPO office will confirm new Chapter applications to your designated Chapter Advisor in 4 to 6 weeks.
